Will a shared moment in time ten years ago threaten the best thing that’s ever happened to them – each other? (Synopsis courtesy of Amazon)

Emma Laroux, a former Miss Alabama is a stunning, independent, and strong woman. Ten years earlier she won Miss Alabama and was ready to join Miss America, she had a stable relationship with Tad Beaumont, but something happened, and she lost both her boyfriend and her dream.

That night had changed everything for Emma Laroux. In a very extreme and destructive way. It had made her doubt herself as a woman.

Now she is still single and seems to exclude the possibility of a romantic relationship. But with her sister’s show in town and Matthew Pope as director, she might finally change her mind and discover an amazing and unexpected relationship

Matthew Pope comes in town to direct Cammie’s show, and he immediately recognizes Emma. He finds her as beautiful and sensual as she was ten years ago, when he met her in such unpleasant situation, but he now prefers to hide his role in the events that had changed Emma’s life forever, hoping not to hurt her feelings again.

What he has not considered, is their affinity, the same that could help to break down not only Emma’s shield but also all the fears he has due to his difficult childhood and the relationship with his family.

I found this second book in the Alabama Series very entertaining and captivating.

As in the first book, the leitmotivs are the importance of the family bond and the need to deal with the past in order to enjoy the opportunity to finally be happy.

The world and life had a way of changing plans. There wasn’t always forever. Emma realized she might do well to think about that herself. She’d been in a holding pattern for a long time. Her mother’s courage in starting over with a new man and a new chapter in her life, even though she realized it might upset those she loved and cause gossip in such a small town should give Emma courage. Mom was following her heart and trusting her family to do the right thing and stick by her.

I find this book enchanting, and also the secondary characters are so well written and rounded as the main ones. In my opinion, Susan Sands’ mastery while creating such adorable storyline is superb.

Thank you Susan, for this new adventure in Ministry.

This book deserves five stars out of five.

As she entered the bedroom, she noticed it the blinds were closed and it was rather dark, but she could see no one was in the bed. Then, she realized the shower was running. Against any kind of decent judgment, she moved toward the bathroom door. She couldn’t help herself; she peeked inside. He wasn’t standing in the shower; he was sitting on the floor. She panicked and rushed towards him before her brain informed her to actually speak his name.

She pulled open the door, certain he was dead before she shrieked, “Matthew, open your damned eyes!”

He did. Open his damned eyes. Opened them really wide. “Emma? Why are you in my shower stall?”
She really didn’t have a great answer to that. “Oh, Lord. I thought you were dead.” It was the best she could do.
He did look nearly dead. He smiled weakly. “I’ve been really sick, so I thought I’d sit here for a little while. But I’m not dead. So, um, could you hand me a towel? Unless, of course, you prefer a shower?”
Emma then became acutely aware of her position. And his. He was naked. Oh, Lord, was he naked. The most delicious naked she’d ever seen. And now she couldn’t stop staring at his naked.
