If you’re into stories that blur the line between truth and fiction, this one’s for you. Verity is the kind of book that gets under your skin—in the best (and creepiest) way.
A Twisted Story of Obsession and Deception
Lowen Ashleigh is a writer barely making ends meet when she’s offered the chance of a lifetime: finish a bestselling book series for the famous Verity Crawford, who can no longer write after a mysterious accident. Sounds simple enough, right?
But when Lowen moves into the Crawford home to get started, she discovers something she definitely wasn’t supposed to find—an unfinished autobiography written by Verity herself, filled with shocking, disturbing confessions that change everything.
I won’t spoil what’s in the manuscript (because half the fun is the WHAT DID I JUST READ feeling), but let’s just say: it’s dark, it’s intense, and it’ll have you questioning who to trust from start to finish.

Why Verity Is Worth the Read
Wild Tension: From the very first chapter, I had that deliciously uneasy feeling in my stomach—the kind that makes you want to peek between your fingers while reading. Every scene added another layer of tension, and just when I thought I had something figured out… plot twist. This book is full of them. I kept asking myself, “Wait, am I overthinking this… or not thinking enough?” Spoiler: I was never prepared.
All the Moral Gray Areas: One thing I loved—and low-key stressed over—was how Verity puts you in these “what would you do?” moments. Imagine discovering something so dark and personal that it could completely destroy someone… Would you tell them? Would you keep it to yourself? I don’t know if I could’ve made the same choices Lowen did, but I completely understood why she did them. And that’s the kind of inner conflict that makes a book stick with you.
Unreliable Narrators: This is one of those books where you finish and immediately want to go back and re-read everything through a different lens. Nothing is black and white. Every character is hiding something, and Colleen Hoover does such a great job of making you doubt everyone, including yourself. I changed my mind so many times about what I believed. And the ending? Still not over it.
The Dark, Twisted Romance: There’s something undeniably compelling (and maybe a little messed up?) about the attraction between Lowen and Jeremy. It’s intense, messy, and full of unresolved emotions. And because you’re never quite sure who’s telling the truth, their chemistry feels even more dangerous. I didn’t know whether to root for them or run from them—and I kind of loved that.

Verity isn’t your average suspense novel. It’s layered and intense, with characters who are deeply flawed and a storyline that keeps messing with your head. So, if you’re into twisty stories that leave you unsettled, glued to the page, and desperate to talk it out with someone after, Verity is the right pick.
