Matthew Pope comes in town to direct Cammie’s show, and he immediately recognizes Emma. He finds her as beautiful and sensual as she was ten years ago, when he met her in such unpleasant situation, but he now prefers to hide his role in the events that had changed Emma’s life forever, hoping not to hurt her feelings again.

What he has not considered, is their affinity, the same that could help to break down not only Emma’s shield but also all the fears he has due to his difficult childhood and the relationship with his family.

As in the first book, the leitmotivs are the importance of the family bond and the need to deal with the past in order to enjoy the opportunity to finally be happy.

The world and life had a way of changing plans. There wasn’t always forever. Emma realized she might do well to think about that herself. She’d been in a holding pattern for a long time. Her mother’s courage in starting over with a new man and a new chapter in her life, even though she realized it might upset those she loved and cause gossip in such a small town should give Emma courage. Mom was following her heart and trusting her family to do the right thing and stick by her.

I find Love Alabama enchanting, and also the secondary characters are so well written and rounded as the main ones. In my opinion, Susan Sands’ mastery while creating such adorable storyline is superb.
