Publisher Description
From USA Today Bestselling Author Callie Hutton comes The Pursuit of Mrs. Pennyworth, a new captivating and suspenseful historical romance…
Recently widowed, Charlotte Pennyworth is relishing her independence and it rankles to have to rely on a man to help her with an increasingly sinister stalker. Former Yardman, Elliot Baker, is reluctant to take on Charlotte’s case, but he is drawn to the bright, attractive widow despite himself and his history with another woman. Sparks smolder between the PI and his client but neither is looking to form an attachment. Elliot thinks Charlotte is hiding something. Charlotte has no desire to marry again, especially to a private investigator, no matter how handsome, brave and kind he is. The risk to his life and her heart is too great. But more dangerous than a menacing stalker is secrets and when Charlotte’s come to light, even the passion between them might not douse the flames of Elliot’s distrust.

The Pursuit of Mrs. Pennyworth was an interesting and quick read and my first book by Callie Hutton.
I was curious to read this romantic suspense book, and I found some interesting parts, but I also was expecting something more from the storyline.
As the story progresses, my curiosity about Charlotte and Elliot’s relationship diminished because I found it odd how things progressed. But I was curious to read about the other characters, and I really had a hard time figuring out who the stalker was. Also, during the narration, there are some twist and turns which make the storyline more intriguing.
Although this is not a genre I usually read, I spent some pleasant hours reading and discovering new clues, and I like the author’s writing style.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
